Photo-Check Presentation to SHFB-1-7-16Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is the recipient of a Community Impact Grant from Capella Healthcare. Capella’s Community Impact Program was launched in 2015, in conjunction with the company’s 10th anniversary, to recognize the value of volunteer service – for employees, communities and the organization.

The $500.00 donation was presented in honor of Davis Turner’s volunteer service to Second Harvest. Turner, an attorney, serves as Associate General Counsel for Capella.

Receiving the check on behalf of Second Harvest was Kyle Williams, Senior Manager of Corporate Engagement. Presenting the check was Neil Kunkel, EVP, Chief Administrative and Legal Officer of Capella, who serves on Capella’s Community Contributions Committee.

“We are so grateful for Capella Healthcare’s gift that will provide 2,000 meals for children, families and seniors struggling with hunger throughout Middle Tennessee,” said Kyle Williams. “It is our mission to feed hungry people and solve hunger issues and our community, and we are especially thankful for Davis and others like him who continuously support the fight against hunger.”

Capella’s Community Impact Program provides resources and incentives to empower employees to maximize their impact – through both giving and volunteer service – in the communities where they live and work based on their skills, interests and passions. The program includes daytime volunteer leave opportunities, recognition for high-impact volunteers, and Cause Communities, which are groups of individuals interested in making a difference in a particular topic area. These employee-led groups learn about the issue, volunteer together, host speakers, and collectively make a positive difference on an issue they all care about.

“Our employees are compassionate and generous, giving of their personal time and resources to serve others,” said Beth B. Wright, SVP-Corporate Communications, who leads the Community Contributions Committee. “We enjoy celebrating their service and learning about the outstanding work local service organizations are providing.”

In the last year, Capella has co-sponsored and helped build a Habitat for Humanity house, raised several thousand dollars through the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and served at the Nashville Rescue Mission, among other activities. The corporate staff has also been recognized for their generous giving through The United Way of Williamson County with several awards, including “Best Campaign” and “Rising Star.”
