Wharton_Danny - lores 1Danny Wharton, RN, MHA, FACHE, has been appointed Chief Nursing Officer for Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, Hartsville, SC.  Wharton transferred from sister Capella hospital KershawHealth where he has been serving as Director of Ancillary and Post-Acute Services.  He began his new position Monday, January 4.

With more than 20 years of experience, Wharton is well-qualified for the new role.  He has been with KershawHealth since 2007, where he started as Director of Ancillary and Emergency Services.

Prior to that, he was Nursing Operations Director and Manager of ICU/Family Care Unit at Sisters of Charity Provident Hospitals in Columbia, SC.  He has also served as Clinical Director of ICU and Telemetry at Springs Memorial in Lancaster, SC, and as a Critical Care nurse at Union Regional Medical Center in Monroe, NC.  Wharton began his career in the Air Force as an Aerospace Medicine Technician–Senior Airman, based at Shaw AFB in Sumter.

Wharton earned his BSN from University of North Carolina at Charlotte, NC, and his MHA from Bellevue University in Omaha, NE.  He has also earned certification in LEAN/Six Sigma Black Belt from the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Program.  He holds fellowship status in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

A member of the South Carolina ACHE Advancement Committee, Wharton has previously served on the South Carolina Stroke Learning Network as co-facilitator and Midlands Regional Leader as well as on Kershaw County’s Sexual Assault Response Team.
