Room In The Inn receives Capella Healthcare’s first Community Impact Program grant
June 12, 2015FRANKLIN, TN. June 11, 2015. Room In The Inn is the recipient of Capella Healthcare’s first Community Impact Grant. Capella’s Community Impact Program was launched earlier this year, in conjunction with the company’s 10th anniversary, to recognize the value of volunteer service – for employees, communities and the organization. The first grant was announced at the quarterly staff meeting, during which corporate office employees’ recent community service was celebrated.
The contribution was given to Room In The Inn in honor of two employees’ recent volunteer service: Angie Mulder, VP, Corporate Compliance Officer, and Jim Wiseman, VP-Tax.
Receiving the $500.00 check on behalf of Room In The Inn was Rachel Hester, Executive Director, who discussed the non-profit organization’s mission. “More than 180 church congregations and 6,000 volunteers work together to provide shelter for approximately 1,400 homeless men and women from November 1-March 31 each season. Year-round at our downtown campus, we also provide emergency services, transitional programs, and long-term solutions to help people rebuild their lives.”
Capella’s Community Impact Program provides resources and incentives to empower employees to maximize their impact – through both giving and volunteer service – in the communities where they live and work based on their skills, interests and passions. The program includes daytime volunteer leave opportunities, recognition for high-impact volunteers, and Cause Communities, which are groups of individuals interested in making a difference in a particular topic area. These employee-led groups learn about the issue, volunteer together, host speakers, and collectively make a positive difference on an issue they all care about.
“Our employees are compassionate and generous, giving of their personal time and resources to serve others,” said Beth B. Wright, SVP-Corporate Communications, who leads the Community Contributions Committee. “In 2014, we co-sponsored and helped build a Habitat for Humanity house, raised several thousand dollars through the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and served at the Nashville Rescue Mission, among other activities. Additionally, our corporate staff was recognized for their generous giving through The United Way of Williamson County with several awards, including “Best Campaign” and “Rising Star.”
