Alan Smith named to Becker’s Hospital Review “100 Hospital and Health System CIOs to Know”

Alan Smith, SVP, Chief Information Officer for Capella Healthcare, has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review “100 Hospital and Health System CIOs to Know,” which recognizes some of the most innovative and accomplished CIOs of hospitals and health systems across the country.
The list features some of the most impressive health IT leaders from around the country dedicated to advancements and innovation in the industry. The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team selected leaders through an editorial review process. Nominations were also considered.
The selected leaders have demonstrated abilities to leverage existing and new technology to further the mission of their organizations while elevating the level of patient care, according to Becker’s. Smith is currently serving as Chairman of the HIT Task Force for the Federation of American Hospitals, the national representative of more than 1,100 investor-owned and managed community hospitals and health systems. He is also serving on the Board of the Tennessee Health Information Management Society (TN HIMSS).
Joining Capella in May 2011, Smith leads the company in implementing information systems to achieve the most effective enterprise-wide IT operations. With more than 20 years of experience, he has worked in hospitals, hospital management companies, health insurance plans and technology consulting firms.
