Giselle Krieger achieves Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management

Giselle Krieger, RN, BSN, MS, CPHRM, Vice President–Risk Management at Capella Healthcare, has earned the designation of Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM). This is a premier credential based on experience as well as the results of a comprehensive assessment exam administered through the American Hospital Association, according to Denise Warren, EVP, Chief Financial Officer.
To qualify to take the exam, a professional is required to have at least 3,000 hours of risk management experience. Content covered includes clinical/patient safety, risk financing, legal and regulatory, healthcare operations, and claims and litigation.
With more than 25 years of nursing experience, Krieger joined Capella’s corporate staff in the fall of 2012, coming from Parkway Medical Center in Decatur, AL, a former Capella affiliate, where she served as Director of Risk Management and Patient Safety Officer for four years.
Krieger holds a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing from the University of Alabama-Huntsville where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She earned a master’s of science degree in patient safety leadership from the University of Illinois in Chicago, earning a 4.0 GPA. She also has a Barton Certificate in Healthcare Risk Management from American Society for Healthcare Risk Management.
Previous work experiences have included service in case management, surgical care, and as a telephone triage nurse. Additionally, she worked for four years in Saudi Arabia as a Charge Nurse in Emergency Services. She was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing in 2008. She also served as President of the Alabama Association for Healthcare Risk Management in 2012.
