Davis Turner joins Capella Healthcare as Vice President, Associate General Counsel
July 29, 2014Franklin, TN. July 28, 2014 — Capella Healthcare announces the appointment of Davis W. Turner as Vice President, Associate General Counsel, according to Neil Kunkel, EVP, Chief Legal and Administrative Officer. With more than 27 years of legal experience, Davis will provide legal support for Capella’s hospitals and the corporate office on a variety of matters, including real estate, contracts, physician agreements and more.
Previously, Turner was Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Vanguard Health System where he served for nine years. He has also worked as in-house counsel at Quorum Health Group, OrNda Healthcorp and HCA and was a member of both Frost Brown Todd, LLC and Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis. Turner began his legal career at the Nashville law firm of Dearborn & Ewing.
Turner earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law, where he graduated Order of the Coif. He also earned a master’s degree in business administration from Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management. He completed his undergraduate studies at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he earned his bachelor’s degree in economics, graduating with honors.
Active in the community, Turner is a member of the Rotary Club of Nashville as well as Founder, Board Member and Secretary of Disciple Bible Outreach Ministries of Tennessee, promoting prison ministries. He has previously served on the Boards of High Hopes, Inc., Ten Thousand Villages of Nashville, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Tennessee Chapter, and The Webb School Alumni Board.
He is a member of American Health Lawyers Association and Tennessee Bar Association and has also been active in the Federation of American Hospitals.
He and his wife, Melora, have two daughters.
