Rosemari Davis appointed Interim CEO for Willamette Valley Medical Center – National Search for New CEO Launched
June 28, 2013McMinnville, OR. June 26, 2013. Rosemari Davis has been appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Willamette Valley Medical Center as a national search is conducted for a new CEO. This follows the announcement earlier this month that current CEO Dan Ordyna leaves this week to assume the role of CEO of Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho. His last day with the hospital is Friday, June 28.
Davis previously served WVMC as CEO from 1994 until her retirement in 2011. She has since remained busy with community activities, including working with GhanaHope Foundation, a partnership between McMinnville health care supporters and providers in Ghana.
“As the Board of Trustees and Capella Healthcare conduct a national search to select the new CEO, we are pleased that Rosemari has agreed to come out of retirement – albeit it for a very short time – to assist in guiding the hospital through this interim period,” said Mark Medley, President of Hospital Operations for Capella Healthcare. “This will ensure that progress is not interrupted as the hospital continues to focus on providing the best possible care for the people of McMinnville and the surrounding areas.”
During her 17-year tenure as CEO of WVMC, the hospital experienced tremendous growth and achieved significant improvement in patient, employee and physician satisfaction, which has continued under Dan Ordyna’s leadership. During the most recent years, the hospital has earned numerous accolades, including national certification from The Joint Commission for its knee and hip replacement surgery (2013), “A” ratings on the Hospital Safety Score report from The Leapfrog Group (2012-13), and eleven 5-star ratings from HealthGrades (2013). The hospital has also added new technology, including a comprehensive new electronic medical record system and 3D tomosynthesis mammography, the first of its kind in Oregon. WVMC has also brought new services to the community, such as the new Senior Behavioral Health Services facility which opened late last year.
Having begun her career in health care as a nurse, Davis moved into hospital administrative leadership roles in the 1970s. She served as Director of Nursing for hospitals in Illinois and Missouri then as Administrator and CEO of hospitals in Virginia and Oklahoma before moving to McMinnville to take the WVMC position.
