“Becker’s Hospital Review is honored to have Mr. Slipkovich join our faculty,” said Scott Becker, Publisher. “He is one of the smartest and most innovative leaders in healthcare today and a great addition to our strategy and health leadership track.”
“I’m honored to be invited to speak at this conference and to be included with these nationally respected health care leaders. It’s a very challenging time for healthcare provides as we all focus on continuing to improve quality, patient satisfaction and access to services even as we lower the costs of care. The level of uncertainty in health care financing is unprecedented. Hospitals are already experiencing an across-the-board two percent cut in pay for treating Medicare patients as a result of the sequestration process. Additionally, a number of states are declining federal funding to expand Medicaid and reduce the uninsured rate, which further aggravates the pressure on hospitals.
Frankly, these pressures threaten the survival of many providers but they also represent opportunity for strong companies like Capella with resources to expand care and finance the infrastructure required to thrive in this new era.
“What’s expected of hospitals in the era of healthcare reform will involve an even greater focus on proven quality outcomes and system-wide efficiencies. We know that Capella is well-positioned but that much work remains to be done. We are continuing to work collaboratively with physicians, employees and Boards to select and deploy the right clinical and information technology tools to assist us in further enhance quality and efficiency. With these tools – and others already in place – we are in a very strong position to proactively meet the demands of healthcare reform.”
