Capella Healthcare Recognized for “Best New Campaign” by United Way
March 1, 2012Franklin, TN. February 22, 2012 – Capella Healthcare’s corporate office has been honored with the “best new campaign” award by The United Way of Williamson County in recognition of the employees’ generous and enthusiastic participation. The award was presented during the annual Community Support and Volunteer Recognition Celebration held February 22 at the Factory in Franklin.
United Way Volunteer Andy Menzyk, in presenting the award to Capella’s Co-Founder and CEO Dan Slipkovich, said that Capella ranked #1 out of the 12 companies in the health care category for both “per capita giving” and “average gift per donor.”
Mike Wiechart, Capella’s Chief Operating Officer, was the Campaign Chairman. In kicking off Capella’s corporate office United Way campaign in November, Wiechart promised to have his head shaved if the 60+ employees raised over $10K. Photos of him “paying up” were shown during the awards presentation.
Wiechart credited his colleagues for an “…amazing inaugural campaign. Their generosity is helping to strengthen and uplift those in our communities who need a helping hand. Meals to school children who would otherwise go without, visits to the lonely elderly, and emotional and physical healing to those victimized by sexual assault are just a few examples of what will be made possible by the generosity of Capella’s staff.”
