Capella Healthcare Unveils New Brand Initiative
July 15, 2011Franklin, TN. – Building on the excitement of recent growth with the addition of two new hospitals to the Capella Healthcare family, the company has unveiled a new brand initiative. Visually captured in a refreshed logo mark and a revised color palette, the initiative is designed to help convey the company’s distinct personality.
“Building on our current momentum, we are pleased to unveil our new brand which better reflects who Capella is today,” said Co-Founder, Board Chair and CEO Dan Slipkovich. “Our hospital family has a vibrant future ahead, as evidenced by our recent growth. We wanted to revitalize our graphic standards in order to keep pace with our development and to help set the company apart. The new logo better reflects our stature as a strong, growing and people-focused company, bringing greater clarity to our identity.”
The name “Capella” and the eight-point star emblem have significant meaning, Slipkovich said. Of the millions of stars in the sky, Capella is known as the brightest star closest to the celestial North Pole. In that position, it serves as a reliable guidepost in the night sky, pointing the way to True North. And, although it appears to be a single star to the naked eye, it is actually a system with several stars.
“The vision we have for our Company is to be a reliable and constant resource – much like the collection of stars that makes up the Capella constellation. By working collaboratively and as a family, Capella Healthcare helps to elevate the care available in all communities as together we navigate the complex and ever-changing world of healthcare delivery. Together – with those we serve – we are leading the way to a brighter future.”
Since last fall, the company has been moving towards better capturing the brand visually as it has launched a new website and introduced a YouTube channel. Featuring a series of videos in which employees, physicians and community leaders talk about their hospitals and about Capella, the approach better illustrates Capella’s positioning as the “relationship company.”
The brand initiative is designed to connect with key stakeholders and help differentiate Capella from others, said Andy Slusser, Senior Vice-President of Acquisitions and Development and a founding officer of the company. “What makes Capella different is in how we listen to and collaborate with others – patients, physicians, employees, and communities. With our decentralized approach to management, we’ve earned a reputation as an outstanding partner in the communities we are serving.”
Co-founder Tom Anderson, who serves as Vice-Chair of the Board, says the company has come a long way. “Since our founding in 2005, we have grown to 15 hospitals. But it is the relationships we’ve developed with physicians, community leaders, and employees throughout the country that’s the most rewarding part of what we do. It is because of their commitment and compassion that we are achieving our mission of making healthcare better.”
About the New Logo
Among the design highlights of the new logo are these:
- While continuing to incorporate the original 8-point star, the icon has been enhanced and is designed to represent a dependable indicator of direction.
- The type treatment of the name is intended to convey a greater sense of clarity and strength.
- A softer shade of blue was selected to project approachability since the company is known for its success in creating innovative, successful partnerships.
