September 1, 2010Company honored for second consecutive year by Nashville Business Journal
Franklin, TN, August 26, 2010 – Capella Healthcare has been named to the “Tennessee’s Top 25 Fastest-Growing Companies” list by the Nashville Business Journal for the second year running. The awards were based on percent growth over a three-year period.
Tennessee’s “fastest-growing companies” were recognized during an awards luncheon on August 26 in Nashville. In addition to being included on the fastest-growing companies list, where it ranked sixth, Capella is also on the “100 Largest Private Companies” list, which ranked Tennessee-based companies by revenues. Capella moved up from 16th on last year’s list to 11th on the 2010 listing. Additionally, Capella ranked 8th on the “Largest Employers” list.
“There’s no doubt that 2009 was a challenging year in business – maybe the most challenging that many of us will see in our lifetimes,” said Lance Williams, Editor of the National Business Journal. “Whatever their situations, nearly all the fastest growing companies emerged stronger as a result of it.”
“We are honored to be recognized for our growth since that is a key indicator of success for a company,” said Dan Slipkovich, Co-founder and CEO of Capella Healthcare. “While we are proud to be contributing to the continued economic growth of our industry and our state, we are especially pleased about what this means for the communities we are privileged to serve. I want to thank and congratulate Capella’s employees and physicians here in Tennessee and across the country. It is because of their commitment and compassion that we are being recognized and that we are able to build stronger local healthcare systems.”
Investing in our Communities
“As we grow, it enables us to continue making significant investments in our hospitals, which allows us to offer advanced technologies and expand services in the communities we serve,” Slipkovich said.
Along with ongoing routine technology and equipment updates, some recent investments (completed or in progress) include:
- $8 million in new imaging equipment, technology and facility renovations at Muskogee Regional Medical Center, Muskogee, OK;
- $6 million for a full-service cancer unit at Capital Medical Center, Olympia, WA;
- Development of medical office buildings onsite at National Park Medical Center, Hot Springs, AR; Parkway Medical Center, Decatur, AL; and Southwestern Medical Center, Lawton, OK;
- $4 million investment in IGRT (radiation oncology) technology and upgrades at Muskogee Regional, Southwestern and Willamette;
- $3 million on women’s services, including digital mammography at Grandview Medical Center, Jasper, TN; Hartselle Medical Center, Hartselle, AL; St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Russellville, AR; River Park Hospital, McMinnville, TN; White County Community Hospital, Sparta, TN; and Willamette Valley Medical Center, McMinnville, OR;
- New advanced diagnostic imaging equipment at a number of facilities, including CT and MRI scanners at Jacksonville Medical Center, Jacksonville, AL; and CT Scanner at Grandview;

- $1.5 million on renovations to the inpatient rehab center at Hartselle;

“Growth also supports our workforce development and physician recruitment initiatives, which are vital to our success. Providing quality patient care begins with recruiting the most qualified physicians and employees, as well as an ongoing commitment to developing our workforce by providing the tools and training they need to improve performance and exceed patients’ expectations,” said Slipkovich.
