Tallulah Fellers Holmstrom, MD, has been appointed Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center (Hartsville, SC) and KershawHealth (Camden, SC), effectively immediately. The two hospitals are part of the Capella-MUSC Health Network.
The new position is a part-time role enabling Holmstrom to continue serving patients in her internal medicine practice. Her primary responsibilities as CMO for the network will be to ensure that both hospitals are delivering the highest possible quality of care. She will work closely with both hospitals’ senior leadership teams and medical staff leaders as well as with Vishal Bhatia, MD, MBA, Chief Medical Information Officer for Capella Healthcare. A graduate of MUSC medical school, Holmstrom will also help to fully leverage the resources of the partnership with MUSC Health to facilitate greater access to care and improved quality for both communities.
A native of Camden, Holmstrom is board-certified in internal medicine as well as hospice and palliative medicine. She has been in practice in Camden since 1996 when she joined Sentinel Health Partners. On the medical staff of KershawHealth, she has held numerous leadership positions, including as Chief of Staff and Chair of the Department of Medicine as well as on the Board of Trustees.
Holmstrom is currently enrolled in the Physician Executive MBA program at University of Tennessee. She earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry and German, graduating Summa Cum Laude, from Clemson University. She completed a Fullbright/DAAD Fellowship at University of Heidelberg before attending Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), where she earned her medical degree. She then completed both her internship and residency at MUSC where she was selected as Chief Medical Resident.
